NO MORE HEROES FINDS A NEW HOME

It was all going so well, but unfortunately this ended up being one of the many anthologies dumped by the previous publisher (due to time/financial constraints).

However, as I type this, new contracts are being signed and a new home has been found for NO MORE HEROES!!!! It's being put out by Matt Nord, who runs Norgus Press, so I know it's in good hands :)

More as it comes!

BEHOLD...NO MORE HEROES IS ALIVE!

It's taken its sweet time but No More Heroes is ready to be published!!!

NO MORE HEROES...WHERE ARE YOU?!

Hello, world!

We hoped to have No More Heroes out and ready to purchase by December 2010 (Jan this year at the latest) but, unfortunately, the head of the publishing company suffered some pretty serious ill-health and is still recuperating, which has had a knock-on effect for ALL the books the Library of Fantasy (and its sister imprints) were set to publish.

Rest assured, though, that NMH is still coming out, we're just not sure when. The finished version (with complete cover artwork, correct formatting etc) was sent to the publisher back in November so it should be pretty darn near the top of the 'release' list.

For now, your best bet is to keep an eye on the official thread on the publisher's forum: HERE!

Up, up and across!

LOOK, UP IN THE SKY!

NMH is with the publisher now so it's literally a case of waiting for it to appear!

In the meantime, why not check out http://superheronovels.com? Eric, who runs it, recently contacted me as he's offered to plug NMH, so the least you lot can do is check the site out, hmmm? He's reviewed a ton of superhero books already!

BULL SPEC / FORMATTING NEWS

I recently received an email from a chap called Sam who runs a respectable zine called BULL SPEC - he's going to plug NMH as one of the contributors and the cover artist are from his region, so in return I'm plugging him! Not in a 1940's gangster way, mind you. That sort of behaviour won't do anyone any good.

Regards NMH itself - my computer died a little while ago and has only recently been fixed, so that's delayed it a bit. However, it's still my top priority so I'll have it sorted asap, after which it will be entirely in the hands of the publisher.

Toodle pip!

Life has got in the way a bit so I'll have all edits sorted by the end of this next week, easy peasy!

Also in the process of trying to find a decent comic-style artist...I have a very strong idea for the cover, just need to find someone decent to do it...if anyone has any suggestions for artists, let me know!

Epilogue

Congrats go out to everyone who made it in. The selection process for this was REALLY tough. Generally speaking, there were some very very good stories that didn't make the cut, purely based on space in the book, whether that/those character(s) were already used, or overused, and also continuity.

Of course, it's practically impossible with something like this to guess or organise continuity before or even during the submissions process, so I guess it was a bit of pot luck in that respect (Bill and I wanted to see what everyone came up with on their own, with only our prompts to guide them).

I'll be in touch with everyone who was accepted soon about continuity issues, and general editing bits and bobs.

As a sort-of taster, these are some of the characters who feature most prominently in the book:

St North and Dr Pustual (of course), Goatman, Crisis, The Canadian, Evil Penguin, and Nykee, with a bunch of other characters getting cameos, walk-on parts, and so forth. I honestly think we've got a decent little universe here, and hope it does well when it gets published (publication date is still TBA).

SUBMISSIONS CLOSED

Oh noes!

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OFFICIALLY CLOSED.

Thank you to everyone who submitted, we've got a tough time ahead of us sorting out the wheat from the chaff and we'll try and get back to everyone asap.

However: I'm moving house this weekend and Bill's away so it's unlikely we'll get in touch with all y'all 'til sometime next week (because we'll probably both be offline) - just a heads up, a cruel twist of the tension knife BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Come along Bill, my diabolical cohort, let us away to cause more awkward mischief!

CLOSER, IT LOOOOOOOOOOOMS!

Deadline's just under a month away, kiddies!

Woop!

Tuesday, 4 May 2010

I WANT TO FEEEEEEEEL IT!

Hey kids,

Every story we've received so far has been different to each other, so no duplicate ideas, which is ace, but *I* would like to see more stories that take into account the villains discovering there are still heroes left and also take into account how normal people and the governments of the world are reacting to the aftermath of the Cataclysm.

I won't comment on any of the stories received so far, but I will say stories that don't really reference the Cataclysm are fine, of course, but it would really put you in my good books if you can make me feel like our world really is in the grip of supervillains and everybody's struggling to cope.

Just over a month left 'til deadline, so get cracking you nutters! Woop!

Oh yeah and please please follow the guidelines for submission format. Thanks!

DEADLINE / 3 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER

No More Heroes will close to submissions on JUNE 15th.

Bill and I have been plotting and scheming in our secret volcano base and we've come up with diabolical plans to turn No More Heroes into a TRILOGY! Yes, like Indiana Jones, or Alien, or Star Wars. Yes, just like those ;)

But we can only do that if we get a decent response to this first one. Early signs are promising, so keep it up, folks! We're seeing a nice mix of styles, too. If you have an idea but you're not sure if it's what we're looking for, don't be shy about querying. We're nice chaps.

edit: regarding multiple subs...we'll send out rejections and acceptances after the deadline, but if you sub something and we either like it but think it needs a rejig, or we've seen too many similiar styles of story and want to offer you the chance to send something else, we'll let you know before the deadline.

And that's HOW for NOW.
